In vivo tracking of T cells in an inflammatory Bowel disease mouse model

Jan 16, 2017

Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBDs) include Crohn’s disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC). They refer to chronic inflammatory disorders of the intestine and/or the colon. In order to better under stand the roles of T cells in the pathogenesis of IBD, several mouse models are available. In particular, they help get precise information about the initiation, induction and regulation of immunopathology induced by T cells. Here, we explore the potential of Cellvizio imaging for the longitudinal monitoring of T cells in an IBD mouse model. The T cell transfer model is especially used to study Crohn’s disease. It has been instrumental in delineating the immunological mechanisms responsible for the induction and regulation of intest inal inflammat ion. For this model, CD4+CD25- T cells injected to SCID mice can generate within 8 weeks an installed bowel inflammation.
